05.07.10. Novikombank: active participant and strategic partner in the 1st International Forum «Engineering Technologies 2010»
Novikombank was a strategic partner and an active participant in the 1st International Forum «Engineering Technologies 2010», which was held 30 June-4 July 2010 in the town of Zhukovsky (Moscow Region), the traditional site for MAKS air shows.
The forum was organised to help achieve the key goals of modernizing the Russian economy by furthering the implementation of technological innovations in machine building, promoting Russian products on the global market, and enhancing the prestige of Russia’s high-tech industry. The event was supported by the Russian Presidential Administration, the Russian Government and Ministry of Defence, the Moscow City Government, the Moscow Region Government and FSUE Rosoboronexport. The forum’s organisers were Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation and Russian Technologies State Corporation.
Novikombank, a key player in Russian machine building, was given the honour of serving as strategic partner for the forum; the organisers’ decision reflects the Bank’s contribution in support of machine building and its significant role in financing the real economy.
Novikombank is gradually increasing its activity in high-tech sectors. In the first half of 2010 the Bank’s loan book in defence-industry and machine-building grew more than 1/3 to RUR 6 billion. In June the Bank’s Credit Committee decided to provide additional financing and higher credit limits to Russian industry leaders such as JSC United Aircraft Corporation, JSC Oboronprom Corporation, and Ilyushin Finance Co. for a total of RUR 4 billion.
Novikombank was an active participant in the forum’s business programme. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Russian Technologies State Corporation CEO Sergei Chemezov spoke at the plenary session along with representatives from government and business; other participants included Novikombank President Ilya Gubin and other Bank managers.
At the conference “Creating the Investment Climate in the Machine Building Sector – Investment Policy Priorities,” Novikombank made a presentation on innovative banking technologies for financing the sector. During the forum Bank managers met with the heads of local and foreign companies and organisations.
Novikombank made optimal use of the forum’s opportunities to develop business contacts. New agreements reached record highs; agreements on cooperation were signed with leading Russian defence and machine building companies, including FSUE Central Aerohyrodynamic Institute (TsAGI), Production Association Urals Optical & Mechanical Plant, JSC Russian Electronics, FSUE Pribor, Federal Government Scientific Testing Area of Aircraft Systems (FKP GkNIPAS), Tulamashzavod Joint-Stock Company, and ZAO Tekhnopromenergo. The Bank’s partnership with these organisations should develop along various lines, including servicing and current lending, organising financing for long-term production programmes, developing payment systems, finance management etc.
This year Novikombank was represented at the exhibition along with the organisational group of FSMTC and Russian Technologies State Corporation, which shows Novikombank’s status as a reliable financial partner for the machine building sector. Once again, as it was at MAKS 2009 air show, Novikombank’s chalet has been a place for productive meetings among the forum’s participants and guests. During the forum many Russian machine building representatives met with Novikombank and learned about the Bank’s wide range of high-tech services.
The general partner of the forum, the Russian Engineering Union, is an active and valuable partner of Novikombank. As a member of the Russian Engineering Union, Novikombank promotes the development of financing for the real economy in order to facilitate systemic reform and the qualitative development of Russian industry. The importance of the Bank’s efforts is underscored by the election of its president, Ilya Gubin, to the management board of the Engineering Union and his appointment as Deputy Head of the Commission for Investment and Technical Modernization of Machine Building and related industrial sectors.
Ilya Gubin said: “The forum’s goal was not only to show what Russian machine building has achieved, but also to give fresh impetus towards further development of the sector. We believe our efforts at the forum were successful, and see this as an important step towards strengthening Novikombank’s position in support of Russia’s machine building industry.”
