Cadet residential school No. 5 ‘Preobrazhensky cadet corps’ was opened in September 2001 according to the resolution of Moscow Government dated 22 May 2001 No. 446-PPM.
This educational institution is for the preparation of juveniles for professional military service to the nation.
The founder is the Moscow Committee for Education; Patronage – Federal Security Service of Russia in Moscow and Moscow Region.
Objectives of education in the cadet residential school are:
- The revelation and development of abilities of each cadet;
- The formation of morally rich, free, physically healthy, creatively thinking person possessing the strong knowledge of a high school graduate, integrated with the system of national and world culture, focused on high moral values, on military service and the civil structures of the Russian Federation.
The word ‘cadet’ implies youth, nobleness, fidelity to honour and traditions of the formation of Russian officers. Fidelity, courage, valour, highest erudition – these are the qualities characterising Russian cadets. The Preobrazhenskiy cadet corps implements general education programmes and in-depth study of the following subjects:
- Foreign languages;
- Military training;
- World artistic culture;
- Athletic performance.
Owing to such military education establishments ordinary boys become accomplished men – famous soldiers, scholars, poets, musicians and diplomats.
